What is a Mini-Split?

A mini-split system is a type of ductless heating and cooling system that is becoming increasingly popular in homes and businesses. Unlike traditional central air conditioning systems, which use ducts to distribute conditioned air throughout a building, mini-split systems use individual indoor units that are connected to a single outdoor unit by refrigerant lines. This makes them more efficient and versatile than traditional systems, and they can be a good option for homes that do not have ductwork.

How Do Mini-Splits Work?

Mini-split systems work by transferring heat from one place to another. In cooling mode, the indoor unit absorbs heat from the air inside your home and transfers it to the refrigerant lines, which carry it to the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit then releases the heat into the air outside. In heating mode, the process is reversed, with the outdoor unit absorbing heat from the air outside and transferring it to the indoor unit, which then distributes it throughout your home.

Cold Weather Performance

Mini-split systems are becoming increasingly popular in cold climates, thanks to advances in technology that have made them more efficient and effective at heating homes. Many mini-split systems are now rated for heating down to temperatures as low as -25°F, making them a viable option for year-round comfort in even the coldest climates.

Savings

Mini-split systems can save you money on your energy bills in several ways. First, they are more efficient than traditional heating and cooling systems, which means they use less energy to produce the same amount of heating or cooling. Second, they can be used to heat or cool individual rooms or zones, which means you don't have to waste energy heating or cooling rooms that you are not using. Finally, many mini-split systems are eligible for government rebates and tax credits, which can further reduce their cost.

Overall, mini-split systems are a versatile and efficient option for heating and cooling your home. If you are considering a new heating and cooling system, or if you are looking for a way to improve the efficiency of your existing system, a mini-split system is worth considering.
